When I was a little kid, I remember the first time I saw the ocean. The sun was setting, dolphins were apparently leaping in perfect synchronization, and a bald eagle (which may have actually been a pigeon) soared majestically overhead. I stood there in awe, feeling as though I was witnessing the very secrets of the universe unfold before me. The waves crashed against the shore with the power of a thousand symphonies, and I thought to myself, “Surely no experience in my life will ever surpass this moment.” For years, that memory remained the gold standard by which I measured all joy, wonder, and human achievement.

That is, of course, until I got a haircut with Thomas.
